The Historical Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland seeks energetic
individuals to fill our internships. We are recruiting for the positions
of Education and Outreach Assistant and Collections Assistant
internships for Fall 2007. We seek individuals with an education,
history, museum studies, or related background. Applicants should be
able to work independently and be interested in a museum career. This
part- time internship is unpaid.

Interns will work on a variety of projects, which may include evaluation
of museum programs or exhibitions, community-based or technology-based
programs, conducting tours and other duties as assigned.

2) Assistant/Associate Professor of History (Public History/Historic
Preservation/African American History or Studies), Francis Marion
University (Florence, South Carolina, U.S.)

(Position #08-01). Francis Marion University, a state supported
institution in northeastern South Carolina, invites applications for a
tenure-track position in U.S. South/Public History to begin in Fall
2008. The successful candidate will teach one-half time in the
Department of History and will work one-half time with the Francis
Marion Trail Commission, established by the South Carolina General
Assembly in 2005, to research and document historic sites related to
the career of General Francis Marion. Applicants should have a
specialization in American South and preparation/experience in public
history and/or Historic Preservation. The successful candidate will
teach upper division courses in American South and both halves of the
U.S. history survey. Preferred subfields are African-American History
and South Carolina History. The teaching load is two courses each
semester. Ph.D. in history required. The Department of History expects
excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to scholarship. Rank and
salary are dependent upon qualifications.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Library Affairs. This is a
one-year term Administrative/Professional position in the Ulysses S.
Grant Association (appointment is renewable) to begin immediately.
Under the direction of John Y. Simon, Director of the Ulysses S. Grant
Association, the Associate Documentary Editor participates in the
preparation of an edition of The Papers of Ulysses S. Grant. Specific
duties include specialized research in manuscript materials, textual
analysis, and preparation of editorial apparatus. In addition, the
Associate Documentary Editor assists with project management and
participates as assigned in other Grant Association projects. Required
Qualifications: Advanced degree in history; 3 – 5 years experience in
historical research; experience with computers, especially word
processing capabilities; ability to work well under pressure and to
prioritize assignments; excellent oral and written communication
skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred qualification: Ph.D.
in history with experience in historical editing. Salary is competitive

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Vietnam Archive seeks an oral historian to conduct interviews with
Vietnam War veterans and other relevant participants Reporting to the
head of the oral history project, the Oral Historian will recruit and
coordinate interviews. The Oral Historian maintain records, provide
access to interviews, and conduct outreach activities such as attending
veterans' reunions, professional conferences, educational programs, and
other events. The oral historian will work closely with Archive staff
and faculty in fulfilling their mission to collect and preserve primary
documentation related to all aspects of the Vietnam War Era, to include
military, diplomatic, cultural, and social history.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MLS from ALA accredited library school, MA in United States History,
or archival certification; broad knowledge of the Vietnam War Era;
knowledge of military terminology; knowledge of oral history
methodology and theory; strong organizational skills; strong oral and
written communication skills; ability to conduct historical research in
both primary and secondary sources; patience and tact in dealing with
sensitive matters; strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to
build successful working relationships with a wide variety of
individuals.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a
nationally competitive salary. Librarians and archivists have faculty
status and are an integral part of the academic teaching and research

Lerman Center for the Study of Jewish Resistance, designed to engage
university-based scholars with appropriate training and skills to study
