KILLED BY FALL FROM LADDER
A Contractor at Hyattsville Was Attacked by Vertigo
Hyattsville, May 18, 1903 James S. STEWART, a well-known contractor and
builder of this section, fell twenty-five feet from a ladder at a new dwelling
being erected for C.A.M. Wells on Melrose Avenue, here, this morning, and
received injuries from which he died later at his home, in Riverdale. He was
sixty years of age, and had been residing in this neighborhood for the past
thirty years. He leaves a widow and five children, three sons and two
daughters, all of whom live here.
It was said that STEWART had had some words with a colored laborer at the house
and ascended the ladder in an excited frame of mind. He was stricken with an
attack of vertigo, to which he was subjected, and fell headlong to the ground.

Can anyone connect to this family or have more details relative to the location
of the accident or building contractors?
