My 3rd great-grandfather was Charles E Stewart. I first found him in the
1830 Rankin County, Mississippi census. Based on the census, I suspect he
was born between 1791 and 1800. He is also identified in a history of
Rankin County Mississippi as owning and selling land in Rankin County in the
late 1820s and early 1830s. He died before 1839 when his widow, Elizabeth
Tucker remarried. Their first known child was born about 1821, with my 2nd
great-grandfather born 11 May 1822. We believe that their marriage was
about 1820, probably after the 1820 census.
The parents of Elizabeth Tucker Stewart, John & Elizabeth Tucker, are listed
in the 1820 Perry County, Mississippi census. Based on their known
children, Elizabeth Tucker Stewart was living with John Tucker at the 1820
census. With the marriage so close, I suspect that Charles E Stewart was
also in Perry County, Mississippi in 1820.
Listed in the 1820 Perry County, Mississippi census, there is a Charles
Stuart with two male children that could be my Charles E Stewart. There is
only one other Stewart in Perry County for the 1820 census, Hiram Stewart.
There is no one of the correct age in his household.
Does anyone have any information about the Charles Stuart family listed in
the 1820 Perry County, Mississippi census? I would appreciate any
information.
