Hi All! I sent for some war records for my grandfather George Stewart a
few years ago and received them. Then a couple of weeks ago I received
some war papers for another George Stewart. the ones for my grandpa
were for WWI and these are for the year 1901.

If these belong to someone I will mail them to you. Here is what is
contained so that you can possiblly identify him as your ancestor.

George Stewart
enlisted 24 Oct 1901 Chicago Illinois
States he is from Omaha Neb.
single
name and address of kin shows a friend by the name of William Whyand
friend S. Sixth & Gerry St. Brooklyn, N.Y.
born Omaha Nebraska 1 Jan 1874 age is 27y 9m
eyes blue hair grey eyes florid (wonder what that means) scars on
forehead thighs and left knee cap
served on the vessel Franklin until Nov 19, 1901
U.S.S. Illinois until 25 Mar 1902
Occupation on ships: Coal Passer
States he deserted in New yhork from the U.S. S. Illinois
(there should be a good story going there !)

to you!!
