Subject: [STEWART] John Steward of Bertie Precinct, NC 1723
Date: Mon, 05 Jan 2004 10:53:32 -0600
On 28 Feb 1723, JOHN STEWARD of Albermarle Co. in Bertie Precinct, NC, and SARAH STEWARD his wife, sold to ROBERT BRASWELL, a plantation containing 200 acres on Yourah Swamp adjoining STEWARD's own land. Witnesses were THOMAS BONNER and MOORE CARTOR. The deed was registered in May Court, 1724, and JOHN SUTTON was Deputy Clerk of the Court. This is the earliest deed in Bertie Co. in which ROBERT BRASWELL was a grantee.
Was this John Steward, the son of John Steward listed on Colonial Tithes for Surry Co VA since 1685?
