Hi Jean,
I really enjoyed reading your post as well. I wish more "Yankee" lines would post on this list. You know many Northern lines settled in the South, we all started off somewhere. Who Knows, I may be a Northern line, with names like Nathaniel in my Stewarts, it could very well be a possibility.
I traveled this past August from El Salvador, Central America to VA and NC. What a trip that was! 15 days of driving, going to court houses, and a family reunion. I met cousins from all over, De, Mo, even people from Montana came. Shirley Antrium surprised me by showing up, she came all the way from MO. We went to a tiny village called Lambsburg VA, on the VA line, saw Stewarts Creek, named in 1760, took photos of that, were invited by neighbors who now own our old land into their homes. My son who is 10, took several rocks back with us on the plane, these were rocks from my GGGGG grandfather´s land. On that land was an old cabin , a slave quarters built ca. 1800. I found out I was related to just about everyone there, in fact I think so many of us in the South are very in bred, and makes me wonder why we are not all mentally retarted. I have wonderful gen pals and cousins through the internet, we all research STEWART, and we all pull together data and share. I !
also have a cousin who lives in NC and does a lot of foot work for me, thank GOD for her, she loves it. I plan to go to VA and NC next year, but will leave behind the kids, they get bored with all the historical stuff. The more persistant we are the more we will find.
Best regards,
Teresa Stuart de Rios
