The family of John Stewart (A37-8) who marr-2 Margaret Gilmore begins with him;
he was a weaver of Haverhill, MA. No known connection with the Londonderry, NH
families except the fact that Margaret Gilmore was born there -- BUT -- there is
no Joseph either among his sons or his son John's sons. His first wife was
Susanna Mitchell and they had James, Mary, Susanna and James again (b. 8 Jan
1743/4) and then his children with Margaret Gilmore began with Sarah, bp. 1755,
and went on to incude John, Anna, Margaret, and perhaps Thomas, Lucinda and
William, inferred from family letters. Unfortunately the date of his first
wife's death is not known (or at least it wasn't to the SCM editor) so it's
remotely possible that an unknown son Joseph was born after the last known
child, James, b. 1743/4, but it is generally pretty much a waste of time trying
to fit someone into a family without any evidence at all. None of the children
went south they all stayed in either Mass. or NH.
Sorry! Reinforced concrete does stand most bashing!
