We connected a while back about Charles H. Stewart's family. I have found a
little more information.
My gggrandfather Charles H. STEWART b. 1818 MD, d. ca 1881 Stoddard Co. MO.
According to the 1880 census both of his parents were born in MD. Where did
you find NC? That is a huge clue for me. Do you know Charles' parents names?
Charles m. St. Clair Co., IL 1849 Mary Ann PENN b.1829 IL father Phillip PENN
b. GA, mother Mary Ann STARR b. IL [The Starr's are from Lebannon, IL. I
find a James W. Stewart in 1867 who started a town Marissa in St. Clair, IL
who owned a Gentleman's furnishings store, and Charles Stewart who was a
wagon maker. I read where land in Stoddard Co., MO was given away to
soldiers from the Civil war after the war was over.

young and we think she was raised by a sister Cynthia and her husband H.C.
Grafton. which could account for my father's middle name of Grafton)
