How long after 1885 did they end up in Oklahoma? I forget my history --
when was that territory opened? (I remember seeing a western years ago
showing the people all poised at the border waiting for permission to go
-- in those days all my history lessons were learned in the movies)
Maybe they got the bug and went out then. Or went with a group.
It's possible that they landed in the US further south; maybe
Baltimore? In the 18th century most of the Scots went to the southern
states; the northern states tended to absorb the Scots from Ulster. I'm
not sure about the 19th century though.

Does anyone have a relative that left Scotland and ended up in Oklahoma? I looked at Ellis Island and haven't been able to find them? Thanks, Joyce
