Wasilla (AK) resident Rossie L. Stewart died at Valley Hospital in
Palmer (AK) on October 22, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2001
at the First Baptist Church of Wasilla, 900 Leatherleaf Loop of Bogard
Road in Wasilla. Pastor Fred Stroud will officiate services.
Entombment will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park in Santa Rosa,
California on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at 2:00 p.m.
Mrs. Stewart was born on January 28, 1908 in Taft, California. She had
attended and graduated from high school in California. She was married
to her husband Marion I. Stewart on February 1, 1926, and resided with
him for 65 years in California until the time of his death on April 12,
1991.
She began her Alaska residency in 1991 when she moved to Palmer, she
then resided in Wasilla and most recently resided with her daughter
Dorothy McCluskey in the Wasilla area.
Mrs. Stewart spent most of her life as a Homemaker using her spare time
to enjoy such hobbies and interest as flower gardening, singing in
choirs and playing the violin, which she had done for 85 years. She was
also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Wasilla.
Rossie is survived by two daughters, Marian Dowdle of Campbell, CA; and
Dorothy McCluskey of Wasilla, AK; grandchildren Duncan, Mark, Scott,
George, Theresa, Bryan, Marilyn, Lindy, and Charlene; great
grandchildren, Danelle, Byron, Geoffery, Brian, Sandy, Ann, Chauna,
Christene, Jennifer, James, Daniel, Brianna, Dan and Julie; 17
great-great grandchildren and many friends in Alaska and California.

Her husband, Marion I. Stewart was born in 1903 in Tempe, AZ. He was
the son of Albert Leslie Stewart of Tempe, AZ, who was the son of Ivy
Vandervort Stewart of Oregonia, OH a son of Robert Gravenor Stewart of
Waynesville, OH.
