Hi Stewarts,
I am searching for information on William Stewart (or Steward?), b. sometime in 1837 possibly in Arkansas, and died during the civil war in Little Rock of what was probably pneumonia. Because of all of the family stories I have received on him, I believe that William lived in Johnson County Texas before going back to Arkansas, and there is a William Stewart the right age living in the Plemmons household in the 1860 Johnson Co census. But at this point, I have no way of knowing if this one is mine or not.
My William married Sarah Ellen Hyden April 10, 1861 in Hempstead Co., Arkansas, and then signed up with the Co H 17th Arkansas Infantry in Ft Smith just a couple of months later. William and Sarah had one child, Alexander Stewart, born in Jan 16, 1862 in Little Rock. I don't know exactly when William died, but soon afterwards, Sarah moved to Hill County, Texas and married James Offield.
Alexander married Sarah Jane Bullard and had the following children: Monroe, Dovey, Dollie, Raymond Elvis (my gr-grandfather), Ralph B.,Dennis, Homer, Willie, and Tennie. I'm at a dead end. Any information or leads or ideas on this family would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pam Cossey
