I am trying to find out if there was a plantation owner last name Stewart in
the Perry, Montgomery, Jackson or Conecuh Counties, Alabama. I believe that
my ggrandfather may have taken on the Stewart name from his slave owner.
Also, John Green, Sr. and his sons were slave owners according to the 1870
Census. My ggrandfather Eli Stewart was on his plantation. If you have any
information on these families please send it to me. They may have come from
South Carolina, through Georgia. Also, they may have been on the John L.
Johnson Plantation in Perry County. Thanks
