Hi Wilene,

Many thanks for the kind words! Yes, it did take years -- with time off
for a cataract operation in the middle that everyone swore had nothing
to do with computers ...!

I know what you mean about being surprised at the quality of the
publishing. And can you imagine doing all that, month after month,
setting up the type? And so VERY few typos. George Edson's work itself
is what kept me going!

Those little numbers in circles refer to a system he devised but didn't
use consistently: on the front page of many issues the key is at the
bottom. For instance, on B105, you'll see them. (11) stands for
"tradition" -- i.e. the information probably came from a subscriber's
letter. They go like this: 1-Bible record, 2-church, 3-town,
4-gravestone, 5-probate, 6-court, 7-land, 8-military, 9-pension,
10-census, 11-tradition, 12-local history, 13-patriotic society,
14-biography or genealogy, 15-deduction of the editor.

As for the weird symbols in the online index -- that's just ME, having
trouble setting it up! I tried to go through and delete them when I saw
what was happening, but I'm afraid I missed a number of them. They
don't mean a thing -- no mystic source I'm afraid! :-)

SO glad you found the indexes useful. That was the whole idea.
