Hi List,
Still looking for my Stewarts/Stuarts in Surry, Nc, Patrick, Henry, Grayson, Carroll, Counties VA. My Stewarts/Stuarts were in Henry County by 1778-1779, and are listed on tax lists for that county: John, Edward, John Jr. 1778-1782. Nathaniel Stewart is listed in the Surry County, NC tax for 1774 along with William, Charles Stewart. In 1786 I find William, Charles, James, Nathaniel, John Sr and John Jr., Edward, and Hamilton or Hampton Stewart, all living in Humphries District, Surry County, Nc very close to the VA. border with Henry Co, Va. All of these are also on the 1790 tax list for Surry with the exception of Charles and William and James Stewart. By 1797 Nathaniel and brother Edward Stewart move to Greensville, SC, on the 1800 census for Greenville, Sc, I find: James, William, Nathaniel and Edward Stewart all living close together. Nathaniel Stewart and wife Mary (her name may have been BLEDSOE), moved to Buncombe County, NC by 1810, brother EDWARD stayed in Green!
ville until perhaps 1812, when he and family moved to Buncombe also.
My line is as follows:

+ Nancy Brittian, daughter of James Brittain and Delilah Stringfield
3.Charles
4.Edward ?

My Stewarts fought in the Rev. War in the Henry County, Va Milita under Captain Daniel Carlin : James Stewart, Hampton Stewart, Edward Stewart and John Stewart Jr.
Nathaniel Stewart is mentioned as serving 1 week in the Rev War, perhaps supplying food or his land 1776 Surry County, NC, under Captain William Hardin

Neighbors of my Stewarts in Surry County include: Carlin, Webb, Norman, Rayburn,Tucker, Hawks, Holder, Hardin, Laffoon, Bledsoe, Cockerham,Cox,Payne,Keith,Fletcher,Armstrong, Jones, Perkins, Hammock, Hammond, Snow.
