Scoop the ingredients into a clean quart-size jar with the label removed or a
canning jar. Layer ingredients in order, packing firmly after each layer.
(We used a tall plastic drinking glass to tamp the ingredients down.)
1 1/3 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups flour mixed with 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder,
and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Decorate a lid and screw it on tightly.
Attach a label with these instructions:
1. Empty contents into a bowl and mix with hands. Add 1/2 cup melted
butter or margarine, 1 slightly beaten egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Continue mixing with hands until blended.
2. Shape dough into balls and place 2" apart on greased baking sheet.
3. Bake at 350*F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
Always wash hands before and after handling ingredients.
