2. Robert STUART died before 1719 in Edinburgh, , Scotland.1 He was born in

Robert Stuart, was of royal blood, and a landed proprietor of laird, in
Scotland. He is said to have been one of the Cove nanters, and to have taken
part in the battle of Bothwell Brigg (Bridge) in 1679, between the troops of
Charles II and the Cove-nanters, led by their ministers, in which the
Covenanters were deafted with great loss. He subsequently fled to
Londonderry, Ireland. He had been recently married, and his wife was sent to
Edinburgh, where their eldest son John (afterwards one of the first sixteen
settlers of Londonderry, N.H., in 1719) was born in 1682.
Robert and the family settled in Londonderry, Ireland, and soon after the
siege retruned to Edinburgh, where he died previous to 1719, leaving a widow
and several children. After his death, his widow and family came and settled
in Londonderry, N.H. in 1719.

He was married to Jeannette FORSYTE.2 Jeannette FORSYTE emigrated in 1719
from Scotland to Londonderry, New Hampshire.3 The History of Windham,

Mrs Stuart lived to be very aged, and often related to er descendants the
thrilling incidents of her life, in connection with the cruel persecutions of
the Covenanters in Scotland, by James II. Robert STUART and Jeannette
FORSYTE had the following children:

THIRD GENERATION
3. John STEWART was born in 1682 in Edinburgh, , Scotland.4 He emigrated in
1718 from Ireland to America.5 He signed a will on 3 Apr 1741 in
Londonderry, Rockingham, New Hampshire.6 He died on 6 Apr 1741 in
Londonderry, Rockingham, New Hampshire.7

He was married to Elizabeth CLARK (daughter of John CLARK Sr. and Agnes
ADAMS) in Colraine, Londonderry, Ireland.10,11 Elizabeth CLARK was born in ,
, Ireland.12 She died in Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.13 She was buried
in Chandler Hill Cemetery, Colrain, Franklin, Massachusetts.14 John STEWART
and Elizabeth CLARK had the following children:
