Seeking information on Robert Stewart/Stuart born 1796 NC son of William
Stewart born NC ca.1760. Williams father was born in Scotland. Robert married
Betsy Bibb (Elizabeth) whose father Henry was a Revolutionary War Patriot.
The Stewart/Stuart family removed to Sumner County Tn. about 1815. I believe
that Robert had at least 2 brothers William and James and maybe one named
Marcus. He had one sister named Elizabeth who married a James Phillips who is
referred to as Judge Phillips. My brick wall is where in NC this family came
from before moving to Sumner County Tn. Robert moved to KY about 1850 and
settled in Simpson/Logan Counties. He died in Simpson County and he and Betsy
are buried in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. They had 13 children and I can't find
anyone who knows anything about any of this family. The spouses of the
children are as follows: Beverly Fleming (male), Catherine Ellis, Elizabeth
Simpson, Ruth Lavinia Cox, James Porter Wright, Tom Harris/John H. Young,
Dorothy Downey, James E. Turner, Mary (Mattie) Turner, Mary E. Haddon and
Amanda Francis Elliott. I believe all of the spouses are from the TN/Ky area.
