Hi Debra,
I don't think this is really relevant, but you never know. A Martha
Slaughter was mentioned in the will of Joseph Stewart of Culpeper County
VA in 1825. You might want to file this away in your "just in case"
file -- you know the one, the largest one you have! :-)
This is taken from the Stewart Clan Magazine of August 1939, page D85:
"Joseph6 Stewart (William5, Joseph4), born about 1759, married in 1796
Sarah ROBERTS. He died in 1825 without issue. His will, dated 24 Jan
1825, was probated 21 Nov 1825, in Culpeper county [[wills, K:190]. He
gave his property to his wife Sarah; his wife's nephew John TUCKER; his
nieces Sarah Joseph MOORE, Martha SLAUGHTER and Sarah FREEMAN, wife of
Holmes FREEMAN; nephews Charles and John STEWART, sons of his brother
John; nephew William GRENNAN; Samuel and Elizabeth, children of Thornton
PETTY; his sister Lucy ROBINSON [or ROBERTSON]; sister Elizabth MOORE;
niece Elizabeth, wife of Marshall POLLY; his wife's sister Mary, wife of
Gabriel COLVEN, and Mary's children Mary and James."
Please see my website http://users.hol.gr/~mkyritsi/ for explanations of
the SCM and a little history of it, as well as where to find it, if you
want.
Hope this might help in some way,
Mary
