Subject: Toronto Tall Ship Sail
If anyone would like to experience how some of their ancestors came to
Canada sailing on Canada's largest sailing ship, the "Empire Sandy", then
that opportunity is available on Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999 for $15 adults, $8
children. It leaves from Toronto for a 2.5 hour cruise on Lake Ontario at
11 am and 2 pm. That is the day of the Toronto Air Show so combined with
beautiful scenery it is a day to take along a camera. Folk singers,
dancers, sing-a-longs or just wander the large ship. Last year's Sail sold
out. It is a fundraiser for the Scottish Studies Foundation, a registered
charity. All welcome.
I am a member of the publicity committee of the Scottish Studies
Foundation. The primary objective is to raise money to endow a permanent
chair of Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The
University has the largest collection of Scottish books and manuscripts
(including many rare and valuable books) outside of Scotland and also an
extensive graduate program at the Masters and PhD Levels.
For tickets call Neil Fraser, (416) 920-6851 or Paul Thomson, (905) 278-5022.
