Subject: James Stewarts and John Stewart

from the Stewart Clan Magazine I obtained the following information:

Tome A, p 39 abt 1922

James Stewart born in PA in 1781 or 1784. Lived in York Co., PA. First
wife, Elizabeth Peden, had three children by her.
Samuel went south
John born Aug 2 1808 married Ann McBride
ELizabeth married Daniel Ord (my ancestor for sure, but don't for sure that
this is really the right Elizabeth)

married Phebe Cox who was a widow she is buried in Concord cemetary,
tombstone with info on dates is broken off. she died before 1848 when he
remarried
children by Phebe
James
David
William
Mary ellen
Josiah
Harmon
Noah

in 1848 married another widow, Jane Moore. Had at least one child by her,
J. M. who apparently died young.

James died Oct 4 1857 in Adams Co., OH, buried in Concord cemetary, Highland
Co., OH.

from same page, Tome A
James Stewart, father of above James Stewart lived in York Co., PA, made his
will in 1829. In the will he specifically mentions "The children of Susan
Peden, the wife of my son James Stewart."

from Stewart Clan Magazine, Tome B Vol VII No 8., p 107 gives more
information on the James who died in 1829. He married Jean Reid, daughter of
John and Jean Reid of Chanceford, York Co., PA.
He had the following children:
Mary
John
James (see above)
Jean
Daniel

>From page 106 of same Tome of SCM.
John Stewart, probably born abt 1730, parentage unknown. Wife's name
unknown. He died before 19 Dec 1795. The deed for a land sale states that
John Stewart died intestate and James Stewart was the only son and sole heir
to survive his children." The author of the article believes that John was
the son of the James Stewart mentioned above who married Jean Reid.

Does anyone have more information on this line or is anyone working on it?
