Subject: Joseph STEWART in Blount County, Alabama, in 1830

Joseph STEWART married Mary SHEFFER/SHAFFER in Blount County, Alabama,
on April
14, 1824.

The 1830 census for Blount County has head of household Joseph STEWART
with the following family composition:

1 male under age 5
1 male age 5 - 10
1 male age 20 - 30
1 female under age 5
1 female age 20 - 30

The 1840 census for Blount County has head of household J. STEWART with
the following family composition:

1 male under age 5
1 male age 5 - 10
1 male age 10 - 15
1 male age 30 - 40
1 female under age 5
2 females age 5 - 10
1 female age 15 - 20
1 female age 30 - 40

I have not been able to locate Joseph STEWART on the 1850 census. Also,
if Joseph died between the 1840 and 1850 censuses, it does not appear
that his wife Mary was shown as the head of household for the family on
the 1850 census.

I believe Joseph STEWART is the father of my great, great grandfather
John M. STEWARD/STEWART, who was born in Alabama in about 1834. John M.
first appears as a head of household at age 26 on the 1860 census for
Walker County, Alabama. He returned to Blount County for both the 1870
and 1880 censuses.

Is anyone researching the Joseph STEWART who lived in Blount County in
1830 and 1840 and, if so, do you have the names of his children? Also,
do you know what happened to the family between the 1840 and 1850
censuses?

I would appreciate any information.
