Hello Julia,

You might want to check out this possibility, found on G192 of the Stewart
Clan Magazine. "David Stewart, b. 1794, enlisted in Sept 1814 at Warrenton,
as a soldier in the war of 1812 in Capt. James Neale's company of Georgia
militia. He married in Warren Co. 15 Mar 1821 Sarah ALLEN. He went to
Upson Co. GA, where he bought for $200 on 22 Dec 1825 of Jerusha Steward,
subject to her life-interest, 101-1/4 acres of land which she had just
bought of Edmond Steward, in the part of the county which was formerly
Crawford [1822-1824] and before that Houston [1821-22], the other part of
the county having been taken from Pike. David Stewart applied for a pension
in 1872, aged 81. His will, dated 21 Apr 1875, was probated 6 Sep 1875, and
named the following children: William, Charity, EDMOND, Nancy, Jerusha,
Thomas, David, John and Allen." These children were born in the early part
of the 19th century and this Edmond might just be a match. It also sounds as
if Edmond was a family name in this group. You might find more information
in the files about David's service in the war of 1812, or it might be
worthwhile checking the land deeds in Upson Co. to see if there is further
mention later on of what David did with his land.

What I have given you is the full article, nothing else on Edmond in the SCM.

Another Edmond, whose father is not known, was born 17 Dec 1797 and marr. 26
April 1820 Martha Hobbs in Warren Co., GA; he might be the one mentioned in
the deed above. He is on G57 as well as F191, and H40.

Hope this helps somehow,
Mary
