Hi Ruth,

The reference on C309 is a stand-alone small article which I hope will give
you something, perhaps in the other names mentioned. Here it is in toto:

"Jacob Stewart married Elizabeth --. He died before December 1830, when
Elizabeth Stewart, a widow, petitioned the orphans' court to appoint
Benjamin Kendrick guardian of her son, James Stewart, a minor under 14. At
the May term of court, 1840, James Clinger, next friend of James Stewart,
stated that Benjamin Kendrick was appointed guardian of said James, a minor
son over 14 years of age of Jacob Stewart, deceased, but Kendrick never
assumed his duties and had removed from the state. John Proudfit was
thereupon appointed guardian, and a certificate was issued 26 May 1840
[e:56]. Son:
James, b. ca 1825"

This is from a longish article entitled "A Note-book on Pennsylvania
Stewarts, Washington Co." which brings together scraps of information that
appear to be things that the editor gleaned himself in record offices.

As the reference shows, nothing further was discovered about this couple.
Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Mary
