Marjorie-
By a strange coincidence, this line will appear as the "tree of the month"
in the next SCN, which (by another strange coincidence) will be emailed
tonight. About 140 people are mentioned in the first four generations.
Several of us have looked at this line, but the arguments are as
circumstantial today as when Edson tackled it in 1969. Let's get it out where
more people can tackle it.
Daniel, the fur trader (born c. 1730) is alleged to have had at least four
sons (Daniel, Hezekiah, Isaac, James) and possibly a fifth (Richard). They
settled in the Tenmile Creek area, near old Fort Jackson, now Franklin twp.,
Green Co., PA.
In addition to the information in Edson's SCM, two other major sources
exist for this line: Howard L. Leckey's "The Tenmile Country..." reprinted by
Closson Press (Apollo, PA), and a misfiled, raggedy-eared, dusty little
typescript [those are the best kind] specifically about this line (and also
authored by Leckey) still lying in the archives of the Penna. Historical
Society in Philadelphia. Your ancestor Hezekiah is mentioned amply in both
sources.
Anyway, much of this line is still conjectural, but the hypotheses are
entertaining, if nothing else, as you will see when you receive the SCN
tomorrow.
If you will send me your mailing addresss, Marjorie, by private email, I
will send you a hard copy (index included) of the line; the footnotes and
other annotations are clearer in the printed copy.

Editor of the SCN

Bob Closson is also very helpful, runs a small independent press in sw PA, and
has one of the largest (personal) libraries in the area:

Closson Press
1935 Sampson Drive
Apollo, PA 15613

Tell him I said "hi" if you contact him about the Leckey volume reprint.
