I have transcript of two wills... of William and Nancy Pemberton, their
daughter was Mary (Polly Pemberton married to a Lazarus Stewart (b abt
1778)..... William and Nancy lived in Washington Co., VA, and had family
in Sullivan Co., NC/TN, One of the witnesses was a Robert Stewart.... Your
names are very similiar to the givens names that come down thru my lines...
I still have no documented proof that Lazarus was my William's father,
George Edson felt there may be a connection?? The Pemberton middle name
comes down for three generations in my Stewart's after this...
My proven line::::
William Pemberton STEWART I , b abt 1804 in Washington Co., VA? (Father may
be named Lazarus? Lazaurs shows up on Lawrence Co and Hardeman Co., TN
records as a Justice of the Peace. Lazarus on Giles Taxlist in 1812,
Lawrence Census in 1820. Lazarus and WP on Hardeman Co in 1830, WP on Giles
Co Census in 1840) William P Stewart shows up for sure in Lawrence Co., TN
in 1840's, d before 1850 in Lawrence Co., TN? No record of Lazarus after
1839?)
married abt 1823 in Lawrence Co., TN to Martha GREEN b 1807 in NC.
Children:
Tabitha b abt 1825 m 8/24/1840 in Lawrence Co., TN to Henry BASHEARS
James Pemberton b abt 1827 (Bachelor)
Sarah Minerva b abt 1829
William Pemberton II b 11/14/1831 in Hardeman Co., TN m 1848 in Lawrence
Co., TN to Caroline Minerva Devasier
John Littleton b abt 1840 m Elizabeth Bailey
Rodger Green abt 1842

and James Matthews (abt 1780, North Carolina) and also of Sarah Stewart's
