I am researching Alexander Stewart of Norwich Landing, New London Co., =
CT. According to some information I came across recently Alexander fled =
Norwich Landing "to preserve his life" at the beginnning of the =
revolution because he was "a loyalist and wore the kings red coat." =
does anyone have clue as to what the' kings red coat" represents. He =
was apparently not a soldier but a merchant.
