Hello Anne,

First off, the Stewart Clan Magazine series was a monthly newsletter
published between July 1922 through December 1970, consisting of 8 to 10
pages full of Stewart data. It deals mainly with American Stewarts, and has
a good deal of information gleaned in courthouses, probably a lot of it now
unavailable. The cutoff date for births is approximately 1850 A list of
libraries which have the complete series, compiled in 1994 by Mrs Carol
Stewart Harrison, follows. There are also unbound copies with Morris Monroe
Stewart, 111 Mason Ave, Monroe, LA. Your best bet is probably getting the
microfilm from the LDS; people have written me back that it is a great deal
easier to read, for one thing!

Now, to get to the part you are really interested in, yes, your line is in
the SCM as far as Joseph and Mary Gallagher's children. Here are the page

The story told by all this is that yes, Joseph was the son of Alexander and
Elizabeth Barron, and that Alexander was felt to be the son of Alexander and
Cathering Montgomery. There is a lot of discussion on this point, with
input from subscribers, because it is not clear-cut, but if you can get hold
of these pages you'll see the whole story.

The key to the references: Tome + page, in the interests of space. Each
Tome begins in July of the year and continues through June, except for Tome
J which ends in December 1970, shortly after the editor was hit by a car (in
other words, this incredible man spent his entire life searching for Stewarts).
Tome A = 1922-1927
Tome B = 1927-1933
Tome C = 1933-1938
Tome D = 1938-1943
Tome E = 1943-1948
Tome F = 1948=1953
Tome G = 1953-1958
Tome H = 1958-1963
Tome I = 1963-1968
Tome J = 1968-1970

Most libraries have the series bound in Tomes, which is why I opted for that
style in referencing, also because it took up less room and I needed to make
the indexes as detailed as possible to catch vagrant entries referring to
the same person. The actual issues are Volume and Number, but if you have
the right Tome the page will get you there quicker.

Hope this helps, and have a Merry Christmas. I will be out of town for two
weeks from the 20th of December, so if you need any more help keep that in
mind! I have also indexed places, but again, the cutoff date is mid 1800s.

Regards,
Mary in Greece
