George Stuart immigrated to the U.S. from Scotland with his wife Martha in the
late 1800's and settled in Buffulo, NY. Martha was born in Finland.
According to family records which are very sparce, they had only one child,
Thomas A. (Walter) Stuart b. 2 Feb 1885. It is uncertain whether Thomas was
born in Scotland or in Buffulo, NY. I'm looking for a place to get started on
this line, with so little information to go on. I know what happened to
Thomas after he became an adult. He was a gruff, uncommunicating man, so even
though he was my grandfather, I know next to nothing about his family. Does
anyone have access to a Buffulo street directory from the late 1800's? Then I
could check the 1880 census. I think that George and Martha died before 1900.
What I would give for that missing 1890 Census! I'm open to any advice.
