I regret that I have some sad news to pass to many of you in genealogical
circles.
I received notice this evening from my mother that Lawrence Wood died within
the past few days of a heart attack. For those that don't know who he was,
he was a fairly prominent genealogical researcher from Macon County, North
Carolina. He published several genealogical books beginning in the early
1980s. He did all of this without the use of a computer and only used a
typewriter sparingly. Some of the lineages he researched in that part of
the country were Setzer, Holbrook, Stewart, Moore, Young, Higdon, Berry,
Bryson, Strain, Keener, and of course Wood. I must say I am and was a bit
shocked and saddened a little by the news. Even though I never met the man
or talked to him I feel somewhat of a connection to him. He did some
wonderful work with his genealogical "hobby" and certainly unknowingly
helped me along the way. Its a shame that people touch others peoples lifes
and never know it.
Take care,
Chris Schultheis
