Hi Leith
In his personal recollections of Durban, W. Griffin listed some people
living in Durban at the time, that being 1896: He listed people he
remembered, and this is what he wrote

Subject: [ZA] Re; Nondweni, Zululand.
I wonder if some knowledgeable lister could provide me with some advice
to further my search for my fathers roots. I have reason to believe that
he either resided or had family living near Nondweni in the 1920s. I
have an old photo, rather fuzzy, but unmistakeably my father together
with a man ( and wife[?], and two children) and another woman, the man
and woman both have a noteable (family?) resemblance to my father. I
would like to establish whether there are any records of the district
through which I could check the presence of the family, WARD in the area
at that time. Cemetery records may reveal WARDs: where should I look
please? For the record, my fathers full name was:....
Edward Pembroke Ward, (stationer)
b. 1895 (SA)
d. 1952 (NZ)
m. Margaret Elizabeth Mary KEITH 26 July 1920
at Stanger, Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Residence at time of marriage, Pietermaritzburg.
Also for the record ,it is the family and hopefully, parents I am
seeking for him. TIA. Sincerely Leith.
