I'm replying to the list because it may be of interest to others.
I've been using Zone Alarm for several years, with the Pegasus Mail reader,
Free Agent Newsreader and Mozilla Browser.
I could not afford to update my Norton Antivirus for a couple of years, and
so did without it.
The combination on Zone Alarm and non-Microsoft software kept me virus free.
I got a new free virus checker (AVG, I think) which has had good reviews, and
it found no viruses after my 2 years without a virus checker.
If you get any file from an unknown source, just don't open it - whether
.jpg, pif, .scr or anything else.
