Hallo R
Quite a number of voter's rolls are available in various archives but the
indexing is not consistent.
Some Voters Rolls for the early Cape are available in the Cape Archives as
well as on CD from Heather.
For the period around 1925 to 1931 Provincial Voters Rolls are available in
printed form indexed by Voting District which does not help unless you know
where the person was at the time.
The 1972 Voters Roll is available in the National Archives in Pretoria in
printed form and indexed alphabetically.
The 1980, 1984 and 1989 voters roll are available on Microfiche - mainly in
the hands of a few lucky people in South Africa. The only one available to
the public as far as I am aware is at the LDS library in Johannesburg and is
the 1984 volume.
This is not an exhaustive list and other listers might like to add to it
Kind regards
Dennis Pretorius
