Hi Heather
Boy, this list is interesting! I am a descendant of the MURRAY family who
emigrated from England to SA in 1835. Their surname was originally THURTELL,
but four sons changed their surnames to MURRAY because of the shame
associated with the infamous THURTELL murder trial in the 1820's.
I know there were a bunch of related THURTELLs who emigrated at a later
stage. This begs rise to a few questions:
1. If Roger Thurtell MURRAY is your cousin and probably mine, does that make
us relatives?
2. To my knowledge my bunch of THURTELL/MURRAYs are (unfortunately) not
related to the Rev. Andrew MURRAY. I'd love to see the connection.
3. I'd also like to get into contact with Roger and see the .pdf info. I
have a Roger George Thurtell MURRAY in my tree, son of Roger Hyragen Everitt
MURRAY. I have two alternate spellings for his wife's surname, so if he is
your cousin I'd like the opportunity to correct the details.
Many thanks
Russell
