One descendant I know of is Prof. Andrew Murray, who taught me Political
Philosophy at UCT in the mid-50s. He wrote a book about the operation
of the SA Parliament called "Die Volksraad" which extolled, among other
things, the independence of the Senate and its role as a House of
Review, so you can imagine we studnets gave him a hard time after the
Senate Act was passed. It emasculated the Senate by removing the
disproportionate (and moderating) influence of the smaller provinces and
the proportional representation applied to the Provincial quotas of
eight Senators each; and Andrew Murray was the man who devised it for
the Government.
