Prov.?24 April 1909.
My grandfather Came from Ireland dob ?
He married Willimina Louisa Engelbreght from Upington
He farmed in Oudshoorn first and moved to Upington He was the mayor of
Upington 14/1 / 1909 to 19/8/1909 and 8/8/1911 to 16/9/1913
He was Robert William Brittanicus Thorne.
As the first commercial farmer arrested in Zimbabwe I lost all my documents.
The goverment has taken away my citizenship. I req a Irish or British passport
to be able to take my family to a safer place,but need to trace my
Grandfather
I understand he came by boat to SA.
Both are burried in Upington old cemetry

I would think he was perhaps reading a mail list that I belong to and chose
my address because of my TAYLOR connection.
I did reply and ask what information I could help him with but I am new to
this game so thought maybe the knowledgable
people on the list could perhaps offer some advice as I was quite shocked
when I read his request. How can one land up
in a situation like that! Sad world we are living in.
