Getting the details:

If you have one or two of these, you ask the List for a favour. ("If someone
who is going to the Cape Archives would be kind enough...")

If you have more than one or two, or if you need people to search for
documents in the catalogues, you should be prepared to pay for their time.
Again, ask on the list, but keep your negotiations (and disputes, if any) off
the list.

By the way, you should go to the SA Archives site:

http://www.national.archives.gov.za/naairs.htm

and see what you can find about your BECK family, including the reference I
gave.
