Hi
I have been looking for my grandfather for over 5 years now and haven't had
any luck in finding him. My grandfather will properly be dead by now as he
will be 106yrs old.
I would love to know where he has died or even been buried. So I may beable
to see the grave and give a picture for the sake of my mother whom is not
well. My mother has been talking about him in her illness and will love to
put it to peace of mind for her.
Can anyone help me ? His name is:-
Nathaniel Taylor Watson
Date of birth: 16/4/1897
Place of birth:Belfast - Country of antrim - Milltown Barracks
Profession:Planter (rubber)
Wife's name: Daw Pwa Thin (A Burmese name) (died aged 42yrs from breast
cancer)
Married: 1926 in Burma to my grandfather
Son of Nathaniel Taylor Watson and Isabella Watson (formerly Monroe) from
Belfast.
Has same name as his father. I believe he has a big family of 8 kids and
he's the eldest.
My grandfather went to Burma to work as a manager of the rubber plantation in
1920's.
He married my grandmother in 1926 and had 6 kids (but 2 died) Mary, Dorothy,
Douglas and Georgie are all alive and well living in Western Australia - Perth.
When the war broke out in Burma, my grandfather was caught by the Japs and
was in prison for quite along time and was punished too. He then was rescued
by the British army and was sent back to England in 1945-46. He was in
hospital for quite a while and we did not know the name of the hospital he
was in as he wrote c/o a bank address. He wrote to my mother saying he will
return back to Burma, as soon as he can. But sadly he never returned back to
Burma.
In May 1966 my mother wrote to The National Provincial Bank, Solihull,
Warwickshire, England to get in touch with him, as mum needed to get British
passorts to get out off Burma and for her family. The letter was
transferred to Mrs S.M Lonway Mufulira Cooper Mines PO Mufulira - North
Rhodesia, and it was then cross off and sent to
C/o Moth Club, Faraday Drive, Mufulira. and then returned back to my mother
with the letter not opened.
This is the last my mother tried to find him with no luck at all.
I have his passport details if may help
British Inidan Passport No 16499 - Indian Empire - given on 3/5/1934
National Status: British subject by birth.
His father has the same name and was a Squadron Sergent Major in the Royal
Dragons,
Belfast.
If anyone can help me find him where he may have died or buried - I would be
so happy for my mother.
I look forward to hearing from anyone.
thanks
