Shane, It may just be of help to tell you that a
Wilfred PLATZOEDER was
working for the National Electrical Engineering
Institute of the CSIR
Pretoria way back in the 1970's. He certainly hailed
from either Germany
or Switzerland, and may just be still on the CSIR
pension or medical
society list. Try phoning 012 841 2911.

Hello List,

Please forgive me if my information is
vague, but it's all I have to go on. I have recently
found out my Grandfather's name is/was Eduard
Platzöder(Platzoder w/ umlat over the o) born in
Lindau, Germany on February 15, 1915. Sometime after
fathering my father on March 11, 1946 in Germany, he
supposedly moved to South Africa. He also supposedly
had/has a daughter in South Africa as well. In
Germany, he was a "clerk" and was Lutheran. He was
never married to my Grandmother that I'm aware of.
This is all the relavant information I have of him.
I
have found a Platzoeder on this site:

The first names don't match, but I thought it
interesting that this individual was also from
Lindau.
I also found a Platzoeder in the South African White
Pages that might be a lead. As he would be 88, I
doubt
he is still alive and if he had a daughter, she may
have married and no longer carry the last name.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any
recomendations on how I should proceed with my
research. Thank you very much.
