The contradictory dates are as given in SA Genealogies.
I suggest you ask someone on the list to check the Celliers book. You have
her as born in Natal, she may be a child of Jan Andries Geldenhuys.

Thanks, Keith (once again!)
The first set seems to match what I have. So I should have the line
down as follows then:
1. Albert Barends Gildenhuiszoon x Margaretha Hoefnagels
2. Barend Geldenhuizen x Anna Margaretha Siek
3. Hendrik Geldenhuizen x Cornelia Swart
4. Hendrik Geldenhuys x Geertruida Grobler
5. Hendrik Jacobus Geldenhuys x Sara Johanna Odendaal
6. Hendrik Jacobus Geldenhuys x Cornelia Geertruyda Dina Human
7. Anna Jacoba Susanna GELDENHUYS
P.S. Shouldn't her christening date be 3 May 1843 instead of 3.4.1843?
Kind regards

I have two possibilities:
In SA Genealogies 2 there is (p. 452)
(a1) b6 c3 d5 e4 f5 g3 Anna Jacoba Susanna * 21.4.1843 = Swellendam
3.4.1843.
a1 is Albert Barends GILDENHUISZOON.
But, in "Voortrekker-Stamouers" there is this entry:
a2 b3 c2 Jan Andries GELDENHUYS * 7.12.1813 = Caledon 20.3.1814 x
Somerset
6/10/1834 Maria Elizabeth Janse van Vuuren. Residence: Somerset
District.
Departure Date: Unknown, but in 1844 already in Natal and later in the
vicinity of the present Carletonville where the farm Calbasfontein on
the
Gatsrand was registered in his name on 18/6/1849.
a2 is Caspar Heinrich Gildenhaus.
The reference is to Celliers' Genealogies of the Afrikaner Families in
Natal,
which I do not have.
Best wishes,
Keith

Dear members,
First of all - thanks to Keith Meintjes and all the others who were kind
enough to provide me with a lot of info regarding my Odendaal ancestors!
I'm still sitting with a lost link - I've searched my fingers to the
bone trying to find a reference to this person, but each time I reach a
dead end :-(. Each time I think I've come close, it turns out to be
someone else.
Perhaps there is a De Jager expert out there who might be able to look
her up for me, please?
Anna Jacoba Susanna GELDENHUYS (*abt 1840 Natal)
x abt 1859 Ladysmith Natal
Adriaan Isak ODENDAAL (*1836 Swellendam +1895)
so Adriaan Izak ODENDAAL en Johanna Wilhelmina BADENHORST
Kind regards
