Dear Listers:

At some time in the next few days I will be unsubscribing from the list. I
have had the most interesting and at times exciting few months since I first
subscribed in November. People on this list are so helpful and friendly and
I love reading all the letters and queries, they are so interesting. Let me
tell you what I have accomplished - with all your help.

I have found that another member of my grandfather's family was born (and
died soon after) in Port Elizabeth. The family left and returned to England
a couple of years after. Certified copies of the records are snail mailing
towards me as I write this.

I also found (or rather Dennis Pretorius did) the death notice and will of
my great uncle Ernest Mills who died in Johannesburg in 1936 and mentioned
in the court documents was not one offspring, but two, a complete surprise!
I don't know if I will be able to track the descendants of that previously
unknown child; who was of course grown and probably had his own family at
the time of his father's death. His place of residence was given in the
records as "London, England." The relatives in Canada do not know anything
about the "other one" still believing their mother to have been an only
child. (As she always believed!) Should I or shouldn't I tell them? A
dilemma to mull over.

Next and lastly, with help of the listers, I managed to get in touch with a
long lost cousin in Durban and we are communicating by email. It has been a
very interesting and sometimes emotional time.

However, spring is almost here in Ontario and other work awaits. Next
winter I shall be going to OZ - online that is, to try and track down the
long lost Aussie cousins. Wish me luck!

All the best to everyone, thanks for all your help. I wish you all luck
with your searches, may fortune smile on you.

Many blessings, Janet
