Hi Pam,

Durban would have been the closest, although Maputo (or LM in those days)
was closer, but across the border in Portuguese East Africa. Can't quite
remember how Lorenco Marques was spelt :-)

Can anyone suggest where passengers from the Johannesburg area would be
likely to board a boat for passage to England in 1908, and return to S.A. in
approx. 6 weeks. Would they travel as far as Cape Town or was there a port
closer to their home.
