Can anyone help... In The Story of the British Settlers of 1820 by Hockly he mentions that
Thomas Pike (son of settler William) died in the Seventh Kaffir War 1835-1846 - not so, as
I have his DN of 1876. There is an * against Norden's name commanding the Grahamstown
Yoemanry stating a memorial tablet, erected by his comrades in arms may be seen in
St. George's Cathedral, Grahamstown. Is this only for Norden or all those killed in the 7th War?
There is an entry in the MI for a James Pike 11 April 1846 - Botha's Hill
His name is on the Cenotaph engraved with SA War Graves. I cannot find a DN for this James
though - could this be the correct Pike?
Kind regards
Lynn MacLeod
