A big thank you to members of this extraordinarily kind List who sent
messages of condolences on the recent death of my mother.
We have no family here in W.A. - our daughter and grandchildren live in the
UK and the rest of our very sparse family are in Victoria, so the loving
emails from total strangers were very much appreciated.

A death in the family is usually a time to assemble all family members, and
generally catch up with folk we never ever see. If we are family
historians, then I should imagine it would be a great time to 'pick their
brains' for family stories. My mother took all her 'stories' with her
years ago and now it is up to me to ensure mine are recorded for those who
follow - that is if they are interested!

This List is just so full of knowledge, advice, good humour and cameraderie,
that I cannot bear to leave it, even though my S.African research is
finished.
