These entries were taken from the original Baptism Register of the St. Albans Episcopal English Church, Pretoria dated 4 January 1870 - 5 May 1898 that are kept at Witwatersrand University, William Cullen Library, Historical Research Department, Johannesburg. I photographed the pages and then transcribed them at home. The handwriting of the ministers is not always easy to read and it is sometimes very difficult to make out the names of the witnesses. Most times the surnames and names of the children and parents are clear, but witnesses are crammed into a small space. There may be errors in my interpretations of the names so please don't hesitate to query anything. The dates are in the format DD/MM/YYYY. The ministers (rectors/curates as they are called in the Anglican Church) are not always consistent with numbering as will be seen by the many duplicate numbers and the huge jump from entry 203 to the next entry, which is 304. After Entry 324 the numbers change again and star!
