There is a lot of information available about SA and Lithuanian Jewish
Genealogy.
Go to http://www.jewishgen.org/Safrica
and to http://www.jewishgen.org/litvak
and
http://www.jewishgen.org/latvia
on the latter two look especially at the All Litvak database and the All
Latvia databases.
Resnick families were well documented in Kupishok, Rokishok and in Latvia.
Also look at the database of the Poor Jews Temporary Shelter
Http://chrysalis.its.uct.ac.za/shelter/shelter.htm
for possible details of their migration to South Africa.
The date you give is fairly early for SA Jewish migration, but not impossible.
I have records of many of the SA Jewish burials- if you can give me a
little more information I could see if there are any records.
