Before the British took over, the VOC employed Germans and brought them to the
Cape. In fact, the German "stamvaders" vastly outnumber those of any other
(European) nationality.

Colenbrander ("De Afkomst der Boeren") counted them up. He gives (up to 1795)
745 Germans, 434 Dutch, 72 French, 34 Swiss, etc, for a total of 1526.

Best wishes,
Keith

that the German Settlers were brought out by the British. Could anyone
please confirm this correct me as I dont think the British had anything to
do with them.
