Thank you ! it is a starting point.
The reason I need this information is to trace my heritage /roots to
Scotland. I know it will be a hard road.
But so far you are the only one that could help me trace at least ONE
Sutherland.

My grandfather Joseph Suherland was born in 1895.
he had an elder brother Steven , called Faan
If that would help you?

They lived in (Eastern Cape) the Elliot /Dortrecht/ Indwe district at the
time of birth. Well their father i.e. my great grandfather thus was not
educated, for they were farmers. poor
It would be interested to know where they arrived , at which port ?
