Not really. Sounds like one of my own family legends - sort of true.
See Dictionary of SA Biography Vol. 2: Harry Smith's wife was from a
prominent Spanish family. Their marriage was childless.
I seem to recall there was an inquiry on the list a few months ago. There was
a story that the Smiths had taken one or two children with them when they
returned to England from South Africa in the early 1850's.
