There is an article in a recent issue of "Familia" on training and certifying
genealogy professionals. I would ask them:
I think GSSA/GGSA could maintain a list, like the USA "Better Business
Bureau". This at least filters out the really rotten apples.
Best wishes

Hi,
I will probably by excommunicated for this - but I know one person on a list
issued by a
provincial archive who (in my opinion) would have difficulty in finding a name
and number
in a country districts telephone directory.
I have asked but so far no one has been able to tell me how one becomes a
'researcher'
apart from giving in your name and address. If I could afford to employ a
researcher I
would ask on this List for private references. Some researchers are extremely
competent,
have much experience, think of lines of enquiry that most of us would miss and
know where
to find the information, such people should be cherished (and well paid).
