Dennis:

You should ask Janet Melville. Anyway, on p. 584 of SA Genealogies V. 5 there
is

b2c14d10e2 Anna Margaretha VAN DER MERWE = 25.7.1787 x Gerrit ENGELBRECHT.

Her parents were Gerrit VDM and Maria Margaretha DE BRUYN.

By the way, the town of Weenen was named for the massacre at Bloukrans
(nearby).

Best wishes
Keith.

After the killing of Retief and his party, Dingane commanded his warriors to
attack the Trekker encampments along the Bloukrans and Bushmans Rivers. The
latter was well protected but the former had disregarded warnings from Maritz
and was overrun early in the morning on 17 February 1838, resulting in the
death of 40 men, 56 women, 185 children and more than 200 servants.
